Biography – Robert Rossi

 

ROBERT P. ROSSI, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR 

Mr. Rossi graduated from Hamilton High-West, Hamilton, New Jersey, in 1971. Bob’s high school basketball career was capped off by being selected as Mercer County’s first recipient of the Jack Cryan Memorial Award and he was inducted into the Hamilton High-West’s HS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. 

He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education-Health, and certification in Driver Education from Trenton State College in l975.  Additionally, Bob also received from TSC, a M.Ed. in Physical Education-Athletic Administration in l979, and Principal-Supervisors Certification in l983.  

Mr. Rossi taught Health and Physical Education in the Ewing Township School District for three years, and in the South Hunterdon School District for fourteen years. While at South Hunterdon, he was the Head Boys Basketball Coach, Head Softball Coach, and Freshman Football Coach. Bob was also an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Trenton State College for five years and a founding member and coach of the Mercer County Collegiate Baseball League. 

Bob joined Hunterdon Central Regional as Athletic Director on July 1, l992 and was selected by the DAANJ as the Athletic Director of the Year for the State of New Jersey for the 2002-03 school years.   Bob was inducted into the Region V Wrestling (2016) and DAANJ Hall of Fame in 2019 while at Central. Bob has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the state athletic director’s association (DAANJ) since 2004 until his retirement in 2016 after 41 years in education.  

His involvement nationally with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) included receiving his Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) Certification 1997, and in 2002 his Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) Certification.  He has received the State Award of Merit from the (NIAAA) in 2003-04 the Distinguish Service Award in 2010-11 and Citation Award in 2015. 

Bob join the National Football Foundation – Collier County Chapter in 2018 as their Board of Directors Secretary.

He and his wife, Debi, are residents of Naples, FL and have two children, Ashlee and Brett.
